What is Dasatinib?
Dasatinib (brand name: Sprycel) is a prescription medication used to treat certain types of blood cancers, including:
- Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in adults and children
- Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+ ALL)
Dasatinib is a type of targeted therapy known as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). It works by blocking proteins that promote the growth of cancer cells.
How to Take Dasatinib
- Dosage: Take Dasatinib exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Dosage may vary based on your condition and response to treatment.
- With or Without Food: Dasatinib can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break it.
- Timing: Take the medication at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in your body.
- Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double up.
- Storage: Store Dasatinib at room temperature in its original container, away from moisture and heat.
